Musicians from Big Noise centres performed for the Scottish Parliament’s 25th anniversary celebrations on 28 September.

David Munn conducted 92 instrumentalists representing Big Noise’s six centres across Scotland in a rendition of the ‘Highland Cathedral’, a melody popularly performed on the bagpipes. The performance had been pre-recorded on the Scottish Parliament’s Garden Lobby steps and was screened at the anniversary reception, alongside young musicians from Big Noise Raploch and Govanhill performing live.

The event was attended by a specially invited audience including Members of the Scottish Parliament, and Their Majesties The King and The Queen.

Big Noise was founded in 2008 with a high-quality music education and social change programme, working with children and young people within targeted communities across Scotland, from nursery age to young adults. It is delivered by the charity Sistema Scotland, and now works with over 3,500 children and young people across five cities.
