A new mentorship programme for young people of colour is being launched by Black Lives in Music (BLiM) in January 2025.
BLiM Connect 2025 aims to support mentees in realising their musical aspirations by actively providing vocational opportunities in all aspects of live music, including the areas of technical production, management, administration and performance.
The programme is aimed at final-year music students of colour wishing to kickstart a career in the music industry. Mentees will receive weekly/bi-weekly sessions with industry professionals, including face-to-face meetings and work experience opportunities.
Mentees must commit to the following:
- Attend the programme’s opening event.
- Be open to weekly/bi-weekly meetings.
- Commit to set meeting dates and communicate any changes.
- Attend opportunities offered by their mentor.
- Provide monthly feedback to BLiM staff.

Music industry professionals are invited to apply to become mentors. This will entail :
- Attending the programme’s opening event.
- Committing to at least one weekly/bi-weekly meeting with your mentee.
- Aiming for at least two face-to-face meetings during the four-month programme.
- Connecting your mentee to at least one opportunity.
- Providing monthly feedback to BLiM staff.
