The newly appointed chief conductor of the RLPO, Domingo Hindoyan, joined the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (LPYO) in performance on 20 November by playing violin.
Conducted by artistic director of the LPYO Simon Emery, the performance contained orchestral favourites, including Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Pizaolla’s Oblivion and Arnold’s English Dances (Set 2).
In addition to performing on violin, Hindoyan also conducted the LPYO in excerpts from Stavinsky’s Firebird Suite, marking his inaugural season as the new chief conductor of the RLPO.

Prior to the performance, Hindoyan said: ‘I started my career playing the violin and I still love to pick it up as much as I can alongside my day job conducting. Working with young people is so important to me and I can think of nothing I will enjoy more than playing my violin side by side with the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra to explore some favourite orchestral pieces.
