Music for Youth will be hosting young musicians from over 100 schools on 14 and 15 November at The Royal Albert Hall.

The theme for the event, and a corresponding national campaign, is ‘A Thank You Note’, which celebrates the work of music teachers across the nation. Famous and emerging musicians will come together to thank their mentors.

Thank you notes and videos will be shown throughout the Proms and on social media to shape the campaign, under #ThankYourMusicTeacher.

‘The Proms is always a highlight of Music for Youth’s year, but this year’s event is particularly special as we recognise not only the incredible talent of young musicians, but the extraordinary influence of music teachers from across the country,’ says Phil Castang, chief executive of Music for Youth. ‘Music teachers transform lives and empower young people in ways that stay with them for life, so we wanted to provide students with an opportunity to express their gratitude on a grand scale.’

New and traditional music will be performed at the gala, in a variety of genres including pop, choral, jazz, traditional Irish and more.

People are urged to get involved with the event by nominating their music teachers and sharing Thank You Notes on social media. More information can be found on Music For Youth’s website.
