The Saffron Hall Trust has launched a new programme for primary school music teachers and students called Saffron Sounds: SPACE.

The programme contains an online hub of video resources filmed at Saffron Hall, including introductions and performances of music of various genres.

There is also support for Key Stage 2 teachers, with links throughout to the National Curriculum and the model musical curriculum, and suggestions of ways the online hub can be used in the music classroom successfully.

In 2023, Saffron Hall will be offering in-school workshops using the resources on Saffron Sounds as a starting point.

Jess Gillam, who has created video resources with her ensemble for the resource, says: ‘Saffron Hall are so committed to extending the magic of the building out into other schools and the community. The ensemble and I were really excited to create these resources with the team at the Hall.’

‘We hope that they will inspire listening and music making in classrooms across the country and we’re really looking forward to continuing to develop this work and to bringing Saffron Sounds LIVE! to Saffron Hall next year.’

The resources will be regularly updated with new content, including music written for Jess Gillam by Ayanna Witter-Johnson.

The Saffron Sounds LIVE! Concert for schools will take place in May 2023.
