The Sing Up Foundation has raised more than £11,000 to provide singing opportunities for refugees.

From 18–25 March, Sing Up ran a fundraising campaign for its ‘Chorus of Hope’ project, a major three-year programme by the Foundation and its partners, to ensure all displaced children and young people in the UK are able to experience the benefits of high-quality vocal work.

Donations from the general public reached £6,090 during the week; BigGive then matched the £5,000 limit they had offered, resulting in a total of £11,090.

The money raised will be spread nationally and contribute towards specially designed therapeutic singing sessions; specialised training for music practitioners; development of resources; creating safe spaces; and programmes that break down language barriers through music.
