AQA AoS7: James MacMillan

This resource provides an overview of James MacMillan as a figure in contemporary classical music, as well as looking in detail at three of his works across contrasting genres – the percussion concerto Veni, veni Emmanuel; the brief Memento for string quartet; and the large-scale choral work Seven Last Words from the Cross – and also using them as a springboard to explore other music that shares key musical features and compositional techniques. We’ll also look at some key discussion points in connection with MacMillan’s music.
