There are many advantages to exploring graphic notation in the classroom. It's a fact that most of our young students will only have a limited experience of working with and understanding standard musical notation. This, in turn, imposes real constraints of the music they can make and perform using stave-based notation. Introducing elements of graphic notation can provide the freedom to realise musical potential more fully.
