The National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain (NCO) has announced its 2022 programme of events for young musicians aged 8-14.

For the first time in its history, the NCO is offering its young musicians the opportunity to connect throughout the whole year, not just on residentials or on weekends, due to it being a hybrid of online and in-person events.

The digital side of the programme will include tutor videos, socials, guest artist webinars, creative challenges and opportunities to explore wellbeing.

This year’s special guest artists will include Nate Holder, Aaron Akugbo, Jess Gillam and Katie Stillman.

The main orchestra’s programme is themed Fire and Water this season, while the Under 13s Orchestra will explore Visions of America, and the Under 12s Orchestra will look into different pulses in music.

Catherine Arlidge, artistic and educational director said: ‘Rehearsing and performing the most ambitious and varied repertoire, the exceptional young musicians of the National Orchestras will be immersed in the skill and joy of orchestral playing.’

‘How they help us to shape their learning and show us what a difference they can make to the world is one of the great joys of NCO.’
