Music educators and animateurs were among those receiving awards in the New Year's Honours
The following were among those awarded an OBE: Sarah Godwin (Hartbeeps Music); Professor John Harle (Guildhall); Major Kevin Gibson Lamb (Wind Band Association); Mavis West (Yorkshire Association for Music and Special Educational Needs); Karon Wright (Samling Institute); Peter Young (Guildhall School Trust); Geoffrey Miles (Kent Music).
Those receiving a BEM included Janet Elston (Triggshire Wind Orchestra, Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra); Alison Kay (Poole Society for Young Musicians); Paula Klein (Ulster Youth Orchestra); Mark Long (Sawston Youth Drama); Deborah Lowe (Youth Onstage); Richard Moore (violin and guitar teacher); and Balbir Singh Khanpur (Bhujhangy Group, Smethwick).
